The Japan Bible Home – a great place surrounded by beautiful nature and giving a comforting environment for your physical refreshment and spiritual renewal

The　Japan Bible Home was started by a Swiss missionary in 1977. It functioned as a church with a lodge and a facility for retreat in the mountain where people could have physical refreshment and spiritual renewal while reading the Bible, praying, and having a fellowship. Now an American missionary, Thomas Tierney and his family run and works for the Bible Home.

This place is located in Yunokoya Onsen in the Okutone mountains. You can enjoy hot spring bathing and forest bathing to the full. Also you can refresh your mind in the rich nature each season offers, which can give you an opportunity to reflect on your life quietly.

To the ski resort areas such as Houdaigi, Fujiwara Sunbird Hotel, Prince Hotel, and Minakami kougen: 10 to 20 min by car.

1947 He was born in New York.
1965 He joined the army in 1965 and was assigned to a special army legion.
1969 He believed in Jesus Christ through Campus Crusade for Christ.
1973 He married Kazuko Tamazaki(The third daughter of a pastor at a Holiness Church).
1974 He graduated from the UC Berkeley after having studied engineering there.
He started to work at a company specializing the space development as an engineer for the project of the engine of the Space Shuttle.
1979 In 1979 he was sent to Japan as an engineer for N2 Rocket, then got involved in the launch of the weather satellites and the　broadcast satellites with NASDA and IHI.
1985 He felt called for the missionary work in Japan, left the secular job, then got trained by Jim Norton of Tokorozawa Baptist Church. He finished the study of the seminary in the US through corresponding.
1987 In 1987 he started as the camp director for the Japan Bible Home in Minakami,Gunma.
1993 In 1993 He started to work as a pastor of Minakami Maranatha Baptist Church after graduating from Faith Bible Institute.
1998. In 1998 He was led to be the pastor of Maranatha Baptist Church in Minakami.
