Head north on Kanetsu Expressway toward Niigata. Get off at Minakami, a 30-minute drive.
Snow tires or snow chains are essential in winter.
The Konroku Pass on the Okutoneyukemui Highway to Nikko area is closed from Nov 10 to the end of May.
